How is the living environment at Fort Leavenworth (not for the inmates)?

I didn't live in the Single Soldiers' Quarters when I was stationed there, but my soldiers did, and any time I inspected or visited, it was actually pretty nice. One of the nicer facilities I've seen in my career. Hard to give an accurate opinion since my exposure was only that, but it did seem pretty well off. The housing, if you have a family, is hit or miss. The newer stuff is really nice; the older stuff... not so much. The area, however, is exceptional. Leavenworth was easily the most paradoxical duty station of my career. Worst unit I ever had (MEDDAC), but the finest geographical location I've ever been stationed.

Thank you very much Sergeant, it seems like an ideal place to be and I get there around June so I'm just trying to scope things out in advance. I know what you mean as far as hit and miss goes. I'm a navy brat and some places we were, we spent a lot of time away from the house. Haha

Make sure you read my reply to SFC William Hawes' comment on this post; I was much more detailed there :)
