"Fake News" appears to be a growing phenomenon in our culture of internet - I have to have everything NOW without regard for fact, truth, or relevance - with no end in sight. People of all types gravitate towards their belief of accuracy rather than factual accuracy. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between the two. Honest, fact checked, researched, and accurate take a back seat to ideology, slant, taint, skew, and I have to get it out there first.
It behooves us all to filter our own intake, spend the time to look at all sides of an issue, and realize that the true factual answer lies somewhere in between all the news we consume. Trusting ANY news source is not an option anymore - it seems every outlet has an agenda it desires to push so now we are left to skeptically sift through the dregs of information to filter out the facts as best we can.
The majority of us do not have the extra time to spend sifting and there in lies the never-ending cycle of consumption.

Back in the 50's the CIA created the term "Conspiracy Theory" to counter any oppositional speak against the Government......Is "Fake News" the new "Conspiracy Theory"...? Because as "Doc" stated, It is all to some degree "Fake" .....News-fo-tainment

I blame the 24 hour news cycle. 'Fake' news was a form of entertainment back in the day. Weekly World News anyone?
Since there isn't 'interesting' news happening 24 hours a day, the news channels had to fill the void with opinion shows. This of course is what gave us Bill O and Rachel M. Opinions aren't usually facts and the cites and quotes are easily rolled up into a meme and distributed in 144 characters or less.
Combine that with a wonderful newsfeed algorithm that tailors what you see to your interests and you have a real hot mess.
