How to cut spending... lets give it a shot....

1. Congress can pass no law they are exempt from.
2. Bills can have no riders. Vote on the merits of your bill.
3. End frivols grants, make them Illegal. (No more watching shrimp run on a treadmill or Swedish massages for rabbits or teach Mountain Lions to ride on a treadmill ect)
4.All of this (http://posey.house.gov/wasteful-spending/)
5. Have congress and the House pay for their OWN travel beyond 2 trips a year between their home states and DC.
6. Fire the Clowns running the VA Replace with lower cost and better personal.
7. Pass a Bill that says Congress does not get paid each year if the Nations GDP doesn't increase.

Just a few ideas......

Another Idea to cut back on Military spending is doing away with the Last years Budget sets this years budget bs. I will use small numbers but here is how I would set it up.

Command had a Budget of 100.00 they spend 50.00, under the current system if they do not spend that other 50 then next year they get a budget of 50.00. This does not take into account op tempo, stand down, or unforeseen situations.

Here is how to correct it.

Command gets 100.00 they spend 50.00 Command gets an award for being frugal and a 50.00 credit to their next years Budget or the next time the command hits a problem that requires funding. Set a top out amount that doesn't exceed 2 years budgets, call it a day.

This sets commands up for success and allows them the latitude to spend or not spend as THEY need. No more NO money unless you spent it all last year. That is like giving a teenager a credit card and telling them they only get more money if they max out the card. I have seen commands buy stuff they really don't need (or want) to eat up their budget so they get the money the next cycle. (be honest what kind of idiot orders chairs with wheels on them for in a ship....?) Things like that.

First I would tell every federal agency to find 5% to eliminate from their annual budget (eliminating worker-bees would be off the table) this would also include federal grant monies. Each department would have 60 days to reach their goal... if not, then, within the next 30 days, the equivalent of matching dollars not met would be accomplished by eliminating those "top" positions in their departments whose salaries would equal the 5% reduction requirement. Once you have those in "top" positions being threatened of losing their jobs, I think that 5% cut back in their department spending would be found rather quickly.

Repeat in 180 days... for an additional 5%.

Working families all across America have had to cut back.... now it's time for our Government to do the same.... no more funding millions of dollars to study the "drinking habits" of Asian prostitutes in Asia or millions to find out if kids will eat food that has been sneezed on.... News flash...they won't.

1. If no federal budget is ready by 1 October of the new year, then no one in the elected offices gets paid. When the budget is passed that money goes back to the treasury. They many not do the continuing resolution thing either.
2. All persons owing back taxes have one year to get right or else.
3. The budget must balance, we start cutting with congressional staff white house staff, followed by security personnel for congress.
4. The department of education would be cut sixty percent, with all saved money going to the states to improve schools.
5. The VA gets out of the medical business. All vets would be seen at local clinics close to them. Offer incentives to these doctors and tax breaks to soften the blow. I think most would do it because they want to help. The VA would administer GI Bill and home loans. THEN SELL OFF ALL THE DAMN EXCESS PROPERTY!!
6. For the DOD, look at all the damn contractors we have. Some are needed, some not so much. Then you have to look at bases and if they are redundant. No one likes this but guess what. Every base is not vital. We could also combine some training like MPS, mechanics, cooks, medics, paper pushers and supply. The services could go to one maintenance system and one supply system.
