With all the commotion about the 19Year old Michael Browns death are people making to much of a big deal about it or not making enough complaints about the whole ordeal. Please provide genuine feedback!!

The death of any young man/woman is heartbreaking, especially when we find out he had enrolled in college and was about to start. The death of the young man is a family disaster and tragedy - for outsiders to become part of that is upon the family.

As for the issue that may well be the main issue at present - this racial issue is a long festering one. Perhaps if this situation had not occured we might not know of the festering issue in Ferguson, MO. What a terrible way for a nation to find out one of it's towns is still stuck in the 60's - and even more terrible for families that have lost loved ones in similar manners in the past.

PO1 George,
I would have to agree its the simple things we take for granted like the neighborhood or town that we live in. Its just sad to know that we have came so far as a nation but still yet have so far to go.

MSG Martinis Butler I agree. It's absolutely shocking to see a town, in this century, still unaware (either deliberately or through stupidity) that to be an effective police force that force MUST reflect the people it serves. A town that is mostly black policed by a force of 50 white officers with 3 "token" black officers is absolutely assinine. It boggles my mind that this still happens....

WO1 Palmer Utley Race is not the sole criteria for hiring, but it is an important issue. Imagine the reverse situation for Ft. Rucker (as a city, not a military base). Some of the statistics I see for Fr. Rucker is there is about 68% white people all poor living under the lower level of poverty or close; followed by 18% black people who enjoy all the good life, the blacks controlling all leadership positions and total influence in the town with a mix of various decreasing numbers of races thereon. Now, let us assume you have a police force compose of 41 police officers - all but 1 are black and has been this way for over 50 years. Do you believe the white people in your town would feel comfortable? Cared for? Treated fairly? Treated equitably? Do you believe the white people of Ft. Rucker would feel they could go to the black police force for any issues that happens to them?

So...when you, as a white person, would you NOT want the police force to reflect the racial mix of your town - or would you say: "no, I'm fine with a black police force, a black town hall, a black mayor...all the controlling influences in the hands of the black people. Tell me, how would you feel? Would you want a proper mix in the police force - if for no other reason to expect someone in the police force to understand your issues, your problems....your life?

Any death of a young person by a firearm or otherwise is tragic and needs to be investigated to its fullest. I hope that things can cool down so we can get an answer. Based solely on what we know, if this young man was killed execution style then this LEO is in a world of hurt. I think the over-reaction by the population is hurting things a lot more than helping and needs to be contained before more lives are lost. This was an equation for disaster waiting to happen - 70% black population not IMHO, proportionally racially represented by the police force. How many times in history has this situation led to tragedy? On the other hand again IMHO, citizens can't make IMMEDIATE racial issues out of every incident involving an inter-racial police action - especially in cases like this where all the facts are not known.

we had an incident in RI some years back where a black off duty police officer was shot and killed by a fellow white officer during a gang altercation that the uniformed police responded to. The black officer was in the vicinity but never identified himself and was shot in the melee. In less than 24 hours it was declared a racial issue by the community and his father who also served on the police force. It was a tragedy that destroyed the lives of 2 officers, the one who was shot and the shooter. The shooter was eventually exonerated but his life was made a living hell, not just because if WHAT he did - which would shatter anyone - but because certain groups refused to give up on this shooting not being a racial issue, making it seem like the shooter had it out for this officer and should have known him by site in the heat of a shootout.

MAJ Petrarca,
That is sad the way that whole ordeal went down in RI it just sucks to know that these types of acts are constantly going on and people turn in a different direction when they see it. A death of this magnitude is wrong but I refuse to jump to conclusion until we gather all the facts just as you spoke of earlier.

What's worse now is that this issue is going national. Last night in Providence, some 200 protestors took to the streets and marched to the Providence police station in protest, but started slandering our own Providence Police for things not directly related to the crime in Ferguson. The "spokeswoman" for the group stating that "policing" in general is racially biased, IMHO, something very uncalled for and doing nothing more that stirring a pot here where there is nothing to stir. Yes police tactics have to be reviewed in all situations and need some updates but not with rhetoric like this - again IMHO.
