Available for work, living in Wilmington NC near Jacksonville (Camp Legeune) and several other bases. There are quite a few military and veterans in the area

Local community mental health centers are usually always hiring BA/BS-level case managers. Psych hospitals are also looking for BA/BS-level mental health aids on a pretty frequent basis. I recommend looking into those places, as they also can be good resource for finding an entry-level job when you graduate.

I am in Vermont, and finished my MA in CMHC a few years ago. That was my path (mental health aid, and then community mental health post-grad), and I was able to get all of my required licensure hours in just under a year and a half. So, when I applied after two years it was no problem.

Also, where are you doing your internship(s)?

Contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info, I did just graduate and am beginning as a contract out patient therapist for a local community mental health center. Once I have the experience and full licensure I would like to try and get on base or with the VA. I think I will be close to a VA clinic up in Asheville, unless I end up staying here in Wilmington NC not sure at the moment.

Have you looked at the psych services at a nearby VA facility?

Agreed. Please get on with the VA if possible. You have the background that is just what they need...... Real life experience.

It can be difficult to get into the VA as a counselor, as many VA hospitals/clinics are not integrating the legislation that passed a few years ago making it possible for counselors & marriage & family therapists to be hired along side clinical social workers. If you DO get in with the VA... DON'T LEAVE. :)
