I just noticed this today, what is the criteria to post in that section?

Hi,
The Command Post is a new feature for RallyPoint thought leaders to share knowledge and insight, as opposed to Answers which is more meant for specific questions and ongoing discussions. All members can still respond and comment to items in the Command Post, and will eventually be able to follow individual Command Post contributors.

Everyone is open to apply to become a Command Post contributor. The primary criteria is based on the topics presented and the quality of the writing. I would encourage those interested to contact us, as this is a great platform to disseminate your knowledge and experience across the entire community.

I just got back from TDY and was wondering the exact same thing. As you explain it, I think it is a good feature/distinction, though I think it will take a while before the usage change sets in.

One suggestion would be to add categories to the command post section, similar to what is currently done for the answers portion. realize that it is intended to be more like a traditional "blogging space", but I think there could be value in being able to follow certain categories of topics - or authors.
