I do believe we have earned a free meal(some definitely more than others), but restaurant hopping gives Veterans Day a Black Friday feel. Vets run from establishment to establishment like a hoard of over-fed zombies. Most of the time the meal that is offered for free is the worst or cheapest thing on the menu.

Is this what this day is all about now? A free meal(s)? And don't get me started on the ROTC cadets that get to participate in the festivities.

If you ARE going to abuse this day you could at least bring a homeless vet from the corner with you. I sit at one of the bar tables and I have always had company. Last year, I met an E-3 who had a pretty good civilian job. The conversation was great and the only moment of discomfort was in deciding who and how much for the tip. We both threw in. I am hoping to connect with him again this year to see what's new and how his year has been but will be just as happy meeting someone new. That is a great thing I have noticed in the different locations I have been in on Veteran's Day: though hats or t-shirts with unit names may be worn, all are welcome at any table and it is as if we have all known each other for years, far better than a family reunion for me. All services, all ages, all ranks; laughter and cameradery prevail. The tribute takes place every year on Veterans day, which is November 11. Well, this year they are going above and beyond that to honor those who have served or are currently serving.

This season instead of just free admission to Veterans on November 11, Military Tribute days will run from November 1-25 (Thanksgiving). And unlike some offers, this isn't a ploy to get a two for one deal out of you, knowing the Veteran will want to come with a guest. This deal is free admission for the veteran as well as a guest. On top of that, it is just $15 each for up to six additional guest tickets.

With the regular ticket price at $35, that is a $70 value for two people and up to $190 in savings for a group.

The veteran need only bring one of the following: a military ID, a Veterans Administration (VA) ID, or a copy of their DD214 to show proof of service. Show it at the ticket booth to receive your free tickets and discounted additional tickets.

This is quite a tribute to our nations' military heroes past and present and we salute Knott's Berry Farm for honoring those who have served Response by TSgt Kenneth Ellis made Nov 2 at 2015 1:55 PM 2015-11-02T13:55:25-05:00 2015-11-02T13:55:25-05:00 PO2 Private RallyPoint Member 1082963

This topic just got extremely confusing, because it was merged with one asking how many meals people plan on having while this is simply a PSA. Why do I see responses like if the restaurants were thinking that we can not afford to pay them? Last year I went to Golden Corral and had a great time talking with veterans that left the service even before I was born.
