They have elections to be worried about and don't want to be "that guy" who voted against giving service members better pay. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 26 Jul 2014 23:06:30 -0400 2014-07-26T23:06:30-04:00 Response by MSG Wade Huffman made Sep 3 at 2014 12:00 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/2015-pay-increase-1-or-1-8?n=226305&urlhash=226305

A little bit off topic here, but after reading the article, I find myself wondering WHY would they site, as an example, an E-3 with over three years of service? The last decade has been more than generous to us all considering in 1987 when I joined my base pay did not even pay for my car payment and insurance.

The fact that Congress receives raises that if they are not voted on are automatic is criminal. Congress needs a pay freeze or even a cut to set an example of government in action. Another issue is single term retirement pay, while a service member has to do 20, well now 15, a single term in Washington gets you benefits for life, kind of odd how those laws are written. Also, they should not receive benefits after a single term in office. That is ridiculous. Obviously, no matter what party one belongs to, the American people are seeing those in Washington as inefficient. They are not performing the jobs we elect them to do. Which is to uphold the values of those who vote for them. Due to the different political views, there will always be conflict. But part of a politician's job is also compromise so we all can walk away with something. A country that once stood tall is crumbling. We are far too concerned with petty things in our country and trying to be everywhere else in the world as well. It is time to isolate ourselves and become self-reliant again. We can become strong, and we can stay strong. SGT Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 05 Sep 2014 02:38:52 -0400 2014-09-05T02:38:52-04:00 2014-07-26T22:59:54-04:00
