All 18 National Guard divisions will serve in France, but only 11 see combat as intact units. More like Gen. Pershing and in his defense of the times of racial inequality. But then again, he did command the 1st Black Horse back CAV during the Mexican Wars in the southwest. So was he a racist?? US didn't want them in combat, but the French were used to fighting with their colonial troops and snatched them right up. To their delight (and I'm sure the US's chagrin (they fought incredibly well, which probably isn't as difficult when you've got Needham Roberts, George Robb, Vertner Tandy, and Goddamn Henry Lincoln Johnson in your Regiment!
