What can I expect when I visit the recruiter as a former AF Lt who is looking to enlist in the Army with a separation code of GKQ?

4-yr AF Lt hoping to enlist in the Army here, and I'm wondering what hoops I'll go through.

Separation code is GKQ, which reads on some websites as ineligible to reenlist, but others have said it's not a real code. My RE Code is N/A, which apparently is normal for officers being involuntarily discharged (general under honorable).

I cannot start physical/waiver paperwork with an Army recruiter until 2 years have passed since my discharge (coming up this December), so talks with recruiters end there.

I'm assuming there's no exception to the 2-yr rule. Could anyone tell me what all I can expect when I revisit the recruiter once time is up? I'd like to see how realistic this even is.

It is a real code from what I have found so far although it is not specified. All GK - Series appear ineligible for re - enlistment. I’ve never heard of a two year rule. Must be an officer thing.

According to the Veterans.com website and an excel spreadsheet from militarypay.defense.gov, GKQ is for Misconduct (Serious Offense) . Which tells me you were involuntarily discharged from the AF for doing something naughty. Which explains why you want to go Enlisted. One thing I can tell you is that once your Recruiter finds out you have Serious Misconduct discharge separation code....that Recruiter will become hands off. Make sure you tell your Recruiter everything. Because if you don't, and it comes to light later if you are able to enlist...then you will get nailed for fraudulent enlistment plus knowingly and willfully deceit/lying.

The 2 yr rule is not your issue, the conduct discharge is. I hate to say this but you really have zero chance of getting a recruiter that would be willing to even attempt this enlistment. If by chance you find one, it will most likely be all work and no play... I believe your time serving in the military is over. If you still want to serve your country try the civilian contract side of things, best of luck to you.

It is not easy to process out an officer and there is going to be some nasty shit in your records. I recommend you get comfortable with another occupation.
