Is 18X closed off for prior service E5s and up?

Hello, I am about to ETS out of the National Guard. I wanted to know if 18x is closed off to E5s and above I am picking up E5 soon and I keep hearing conflicting information from different recruiters, any clarification would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Don't go for 18X, the fail rate from the pipeline is ridiculously high. Statistically, you will fail. If you take 18X and fail you'll be reclassed to the needs of the Army and stuck with a five year contract.

Select a job you want and are willing to do for several years. When you get to your first duty station head to the SOF recruiter and get a selection date. If you pass, you go to the Q Course, if not you go back and make your next move

Despite what others may say, if you feel convicted to Serve as a special operations Soldier then give it a shot. I will not preach to you about failure rates because I know that you already know the consequences of not making the cut. I too have dealt with naysayers in my life but I ignored them and now I enjoy tremendous success from my hard work and dedication.
