This is from a Friend of mine that just retired from Army was SF and has confirmed the info. Yes he is a bit upset in this piece.
This lying piece of liberal garbage wasn't satisfied with proudly serving his nation as an Army Cook. No, he had to go and lie to the world that he was a "Green Beret" AND served in Desert Storm where he claimed to have been exposed to some agent that caused skin infections and health issues! FACTS: He was a Cook assigned to 3rd SFG, NEVER attempted the "Q" Course, and NEVER even deployed to Kuwait or Iraq. As far as he got was Korea! Hell, his records indicate that when he received his Good Conduct Medal after three years service, he was still a PFC! He is using this false service in his campaign literature and press releases. This falls under the Stolen Valor ACT! He has not only offended REAL Green Berets, but he has offended Desert Storm Veterans and Veterans suffering from ACTUAL exposure to hazardous agents and environmental factors! He is a THREE TIME THIEF! Three strikes and you are out in my book!

You know, there are times when I think "I could have been Recon, or SF or a SEAL", then I realize that I never made the first step toward that. Thus, I would never claim it. Especially-DUHHHHHH-if running for public service.....
Everyone that puts on the uniform performs an important job that in some way contributes to the overall mission. Some jobs are cooler-smarter-tougher-more dangerous-more boring-mentally challenging-physically challenging etc. If you want to go do something, try out. If you have what it takes, BOOM, you are in. If not, try again, or realize that some jobs are for young men/women.
If you are not proud of what you do, then you are not doing it well. I hope that this guy does not get elected, because that is exactly what we need in office. A POSER.

Gentlemen, I think you all missed the intended humor of my statement. I realize if Uncle Sam had intended for us to have a sense of humor he would have issued us one, and all of that, but I was trying to make a little joke of the fact that because of my injuries, I had to change the course of what I wanted my career to be. I ended up staying just short of 26 years, most of it as MI. I was infantry, trying to become Special Operations, but it wasn't in the cards for me. Injuries kept me from doing it. That in no way means I see the MI as anything less. In fact I'm proud of the contributions I made. I was the Targeting Officer for an RC in Afghanistan as a contract analyst. I was doing targeting and BDA for the 5th Allied Tactical Air Force when we were bombing the Bosnia Serbs in '95. I was the Intel Analyst for the III Corps Breach tank battalion in Desert Storm, I was the Intel Analyst at TF Harmon at the site of the original Sava Bridge into Bosnia, I was the Senior Intel Analyst and Senior Enlisted Leader at the Kandahar Intelligence Fusion Center when RC South controlled all of the south, and supported the 24 MEU movement into Helmand Province. In no way do I see my contributions as less than the Infantry, in fact it was my avowed purpose to do what I could to keep them alive. I just threw that little bit in as a humorous statement.

SFC Robert Allen, Prometheus the god of intelligence (among others) forgives your humorous intent.

Great points, SGT (Join to see) -- every specialty plays a role in the fight, and people should take pride in performing theirs to the best of their ability, no excuses.

When will people learn. Sure a Army Cook is not as exciting as being a Green Beret, but c'mon..... Someone has to do it. Being a 88M isn't too exciting either, but I know folks depend on me to bring them their beans and bullets

SSG (Join to see) exactly. Why does everyone think you have to be a SF-MP-Ranger-SEAL for your contributions to matter? He served honorably. That is enough. After that, everything else is on you....

SSG (Join to see), we love our 88Ms. In fact, if you go to the cached version of his Facebook page (http://goo.gl/Gae82P), scroll all the way down and look on the right, you'll see that Ron Dickey loves you too!
