Good way to lose money if you're (you better be) into TSP. You lose 2 weeks of interest earning on that increment. It adds up over time.

For active duty that is Incorrect. Deposit is only made to TSP at the EOM pay (1st). Not optional either per the account agreement. If you're a civilian you can make personal contribution to TSP as you deem fit and account fees go up once out of uniformed service.

Unless you are extremely budget conscientious or bill free (minimal) then I see how it would work. But, then you have to remember that Murphy's law incident, that may rear it's ugly head. There are people that do it, and have the discipline to have the emergency savings as well. But as we know, there are a lot, that do not.

well biggest thing is me and my wife are deploying together so we wanted to option to once a month for billing purpose. but she is only a SPC and she was informed it was only for SSG and above . which makes no sense

Spoke to the Finance Supervisor here. Soldier can elect either option regardless of rank. If the unit states a policy or regulation, then the only other question is Show Me. The SSG policy maybe with the ability to submit directly to finance or the S1 being the submission party. But again the choice as to which one is up to the Soldier.

It is available to anyone who elects for it but I can't imagine why anyone would, it holds your pay it doesn't give it to you sooner. Why would you not want half your pay 15 days earlier???
