I have always appreciated my wife's dedication to me and my military service. Each time I joined a new branch of service came new challenges but she quickly overcame them and did what she had to do to support my desire to continue to serve this country. I know it wasn't easy for her when I left for my tours in Iraq, United Arab Emirates, and then Afghanistan, As well as the numerous times that I left other deployments. Each time I left her, she was there with a strong smile reassuring me that she can take care things at home, So my mind will be focused on the job ahead of me. People thank me for my sacrifice whenever I left to go overseas, I thank her for her sacrifices, She came home from work to an empty house night after night after night. When I couldn't call or send a message I know she were worried with the "what if's". The stress of her everyday life increased hundreds times normal while I was gone and she did it all and much more without complaint because she didn't want to burden me. She has always given me great patience and flexibility whenever I had the idea to volunteer for another deployment. I have no disillusions, there is no way I could've accomplished what I've done if it wasn't for her compassion and selflessness. I feel as lucky today as I did when we got married 23 years ago, she is still the woman of & in my dreams. That's why I think they should have a military spouse day.

TSgt Joe Schock No. Military Spouse Day is like the old show, "Queen for a Day." Show your wife that she is special every day of the year by your actions and words, and you will have a happy wife.

A serving member, male or female, would be very unwise to not treat his or her spouse to a special day of honor just about every week, in my book!!!
