Absolutely. They might look cool, but they typically are not good quality running shoes, esp. the Air Max's with the plastic 'bubble' soles. I usually go for Saucony or Asics.

It's up to your commander, but do you really want to have to explain to every other person everyday that you wear them that they are intact running shoes and you are in fact allowed to wear them. The juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze here.
