The only Social Media Platform I am involved with is RallyPoint. I do not have a facebook nor any other social media platform, am I missing out?

Social media story. Years ago while I was working in Egypt I connected with a gentleman from Anchorage through LinkedIn. While on leave in Alaska (where my family was at) I had coffee with him. Great conversations. About a year later I joined Toastmasters thanks to him, in his club. Toastmasters led me to a job lead which I did not get, but it helped me get the job I have today. It all started with a LinkedIn request.

Networking is a great benefit. Is LinkedIn the best site for that type of professional networking?

Cpl Frank Wadsworth, great question. From all of the career coaches I've been in contact, transition center, and career writers that I've research since OCT 2014, LinkedIn is a must. How you use it is up to you. Profile, connecting, articles, updates and so on.

Depending on what type of career you are looking for, look at the other social media platforms to promote your personal brand. There are more social media sites available than any one person can manage.

Employers will search them all if you have an account. Even the ones that you use for personal use.

Since I am on a #LinkedIn thread, here is a good article on LinkedIn "18 Tips to Create Your Perfect LinkedIn Profile (Infographic)" https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/271919?utm_campaign=SocialSwap&utm_source=EliteDaily&utm_medium=FB

I began a social media campaign a few years ago to drive traffic to my website which I maintained as a storefront to sell my books. It sort of worked. At one time thousands of Internet surfers reached my website every day, most driven by links they found in FaceBook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, and other social media. Sadly, it didn't sell books, not to the degree to which I aspired. I documented my successes and failures on my weblog. You may find it instructive if you're interested...

SPC Andrew Griffin I do believe it is great for marketing. I do not have to use it for that because I am not self employed and I am not part of the marketing department. Is there any other reason to be on other platforms.

SPC Andrew Griffin - Bingo, it's not who you know but how many you know. I kinda lost track at 3,000 followers on my various Social Media Forums.
