Anyone in Vicenza know where we could borrow a SINCGARS(sp?) for some SGT time training?

An NCO in my office has been tasked with SGT time training on the SINCGARS radio, but has been unable to find anyone that will loan us one for the training. Does anyone know who we should contact for that?

The 1523 series of radios has all but been out of the MC for a couple of years. Usually if we are getting rid of it the Army already has. My recomendation would be to find the tactical radio gear that you use in your unit and give a class on that. Sometimes the person dictating the training does not know that the gear has changed.

From my observation, we've expanded our voice communications ability to include more of the Harris PRC-152 and Thales PRC-148 but we hadn't done away with the PRC 119, VRC 87-92. Most units are still MTOE'd these as i believe aside from their being stuck with one band of frequencies, they're cheaper to maintain in the long run (thales and harris both have contracts for their maintenance I believe)

SINCGARS AS IN RT1523/A/B/C/D? or sincgars family to include the E, F and G models or ASIP?

Good question... I don't know. He just said SINCGARS and something else to teach us how to load the frequencies and stuff. I honestly haven't seen a tactical radio of any sort since 2009/10(?).

Practical application aside, do you have access to a TASC? They may have a visual aid that you can walk them through the steps. I'd find it hard to believe that NO ONE had a spare radio or two to borrow. But, i don't presume to know the status of equipment on that side of the world
