The checks and balances is the board. In this digital age, the army cannot come up with anything better than a PFC or SPC promotion clerk to check on a SSG-MSG?

True and trust me when I say it should be that way, the problem is that we have individuals to this day that alter their records to gain points, assignments and status as a results of them embellishing their records. The solution to control that would be monthly records reviews of a random 10% to control it.

I have seen that, being stationed at the USDB for almost 15 years cumulatively. I have seen a fair number of Soldiers, NCOs and Officers that were given prison sentences for altering their records and even altering the Army finance system to benefit them. However the number of people that do this are a small percentage of our population. If we cannot trust senior NCOs as a whole and accept there are going to be the few that break the law, then when can we trust them? We still have SFCs in charge of EO and SHARP offices even though there have been several that have abused their position and the trust involved in those areas. I just think the Army could do better, removing the pictures and identifying admin data for board purposes to putting the actual ownership of one's promotion board packet in their hands and leaving out the middle man.

I have been saying that for a couple of years, especially having to worry if your records were updated or not.

Is this REALLY a question? Where would the checks/balances be?

The annual Personal Records Review is the check and balance.

those personnel in s1 are suposed to be the experts, and as far as stolen valor those s1 people could prabably sniff it out, your better way spell it out, if you can do all what you want on erb/ompf then stolen valor is a question that is why checks and balances exist, getting ride of clerks is not the answer, if you have the solution enlighten us

It is really a question. My ERB has NEVER been 100% correct. Even when sitting right next to our BN clerk, (previous unit, not current one) trying to update my assignment history it still wasn't right. Had some back and forth conversations about what was true and what was just easy for him to put on there. Plus a lot of times folks don't even know how to use the system properly. My local MPD chief tells me that is because they constantly update it and move things around so you can't even find the link you need to follow to get to the right menu. Point being, I may be responsible for my records, but how much can I really control them?

caveat,
I'm not saying everyone should be able to access themselves. But there is definitely some room for improvement in the system.

There is too much room for error if a Soldier has access to update his own records. Not just from Soldiers falsifying data but from Soldiers genuinely making errors when uploading or updating documents. The current way may not be perfect but at least it puts an outside supposedly impartial set of eyes on your records when updating.

The worlds greatest Army operating on equipment made by the lowest bidder. It will come down to funding. Major overhauls would have to be done to websites and agencies to allow such a change. It definitely would be cool. I have had issues with sending documents to be permed and to this day its still missing.
