Could a true facist rise from within our nation's ranks to become so popular with the citizenry that he is able to become President of the USA and use the military and executive order to stage a hostile takeover of our American government and set himself us as an emporer or supreme leader? How vulnerable is our way of government? Is our Republic too strong to prevent a Hitler-like leader to rise to power? Some call the current POTUS facist, previous POTUSes facist, and some of this year's candidates facist. What would allow one to seriously rise in our ranks?

CH (MAJ) William Beaver - It appears to me that we are on such a path in our country right now.

While I wholeheartedly agree with LTC Stephen F. and CPT (Join to see) about the system our founders put in place with the three branches of government, checks and balances, and all that, it only works as intended if the population holds government officials to their oaths of office and makes them stay in their respective lanes. Politicians who ignore the Constitution, Supreme Court justices who ignore what the Constitution says and apply "progressive" interpretations to it (and, in so doing, overturning the electorate and Congress), DOJ officials who fail to uphold the laws of the land, politics of race-baiting and divisiveness, and on and on, unless checked, will get us there sooner than later.

Anybody who thinks it cannot happen in America is asleep at the switch. We are much closer to that reality now than we have ever been in our history. This country must make a major course change, or we will go the way of other great societies before us.

COL Jean (John) F. B. - it will be fun if you get you wish forTrump. I will laugh everyday your GOP whines about it. I have not decided who I'm for so please don't words in my mouth, but it ain't Trump, Cruz, or whoever. It is so interesting the country is in toilet, with the economy improving daily GOP is blind to realist facts.

I am not going to continue with this back and forth. I know you views you know mine and we are both right!!! So with that done off to spur other conversations. Good day

Jean, I fail to see what disaster you are referring to....please provide credible evidence instead of your vague opinion.

Cpl Tou Lee Yang As has been posted in too many strings to recount here, the numbers in your chart are no more than Democrat/Obama Administration spin. The actual numbers, without the spin, changing of definitions, etc. are much worse than depicted in the chart. Unemployment numbers do not include those who have stopped looking for work, those who are under-employed, those who work part-time now, when they used to work full-time, etc., etc. The only way Obama can count a true increase in jobs is if he counts the number of people who have gone on welfare as a full-time occupation. Obama has been a disaster for this country. People with their heads buried in the sand or elsewhere, spouting liberal BS, won't change that fact.

MSgt Michael Bischoff I understand your opinion and support your right to it, even if it differs from mine. I think the liberal/progressive agenda in this country is destroying it and that only a strong conservative Administration and conservative-controlled Congress and Supreme Court can save us from total destruction. Whether that is Trump, Cruz, Rubio or anybody else really is not as important as it is that it is not Clinton or Sanders, or anyone of their ilk. We need to stop going down the path we are on...

Germany was one of the most modern and "civilized" nations in the 1930's with a culture that went back centuries. If it could happen there, it could happen anywhere. I look at how ignorant our citizens are now of our history and heritage. Given the right circumstances and leader, it could definitely happen here.

Our own citizen's understanding and appreciation of our Constitution and of history and of world history is at times very depressing. Again, this gets back to Thomas Jefferson's belief that only a broadly educated society could properly support and defend a Republican Democracy.

No, it will never occur.

I swore an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States of America...not to follow through with unjust and immoral orders. I'm hoping at least 99.99% of everyone else that's a member of our Armed Services feels the same.
