February 24 was a day of chance skirmishes near Canton, Mississippi in 1863 and in 1864 at Tunnel Hill, Tennessee while the first Battle of Dalton, Georgia kicked off in earnest.
In 1864 CSA President Jefferson Davis chose CS General Braxton Bragg as his chief of staff. Territory of Arizona is organized from New Mexico Territory.

Although February is the shortest month of the year, many significant events occurred during that month. In February 24, the Confederate States of America formed the territory of Arizona from New Mexico Territory which added another territory to the Confederacy. I expect this action made no difference to the Apache Indians who lived and operated in those areas.
Further east the North was bested by the South in the continuing battle of 1st Dalton, Georgia.

I think for the Apaches it still mattered, because. Although they did not stick to either side, they faced increased military presence and conflicts with white settlers. The Apaches continued to resist American expansion, but their influence and territory dwindled.
