Is it possible to delay moving goods during a PCS?

I am heading to Minot and having one heck of a time securing housing. It looks as though I will be renting a room until I can find an actual place. Is it possible to move my essentials when I start duty, and then the remainder of my goods (furniture, house goods, etc.) at a later date?

Might I also suggest looking into PODS or even the other types of storage shipping containers (I used the UHaul cube thingies). They are storage units you can self load and rent by the month. You can have them shipped and sent to where you are going and have them stored there or wherever you want. It is also saving on gas. To ship 2 from CA TO GA cost me around 1600. To me, it was much easier than paying all of the extra costs (fuel, higher insurance, daily fees) of a truck. Do a

Ship you HHG, then when you get to your new duty station you can call transportation and tell them the situation, there is a specific ammount of time you are allotted, and I think it is 90 days. Could be longer though.
