At my high school graduation our guess speaker read the poem "Don't Quit". I kept a copy of it in my wallet during my entire time in the military. Whenever, I felt down I would pull it out and read it. I even at times shared it with others. After I retired from the Air Force, I can't tell you how many times I pulled it out to read it. From 2011 to 2014 was my hardest years. But things did change. So, now, I'll share it with you all.
"Don’t Quit."
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

"NEVER QUIT" Tatooed under the American Eagle on my arm (that way I'll never lose it) I really don't need t be reminded as it is the code I live by.

Sgt David G Duchesneau God works all things to good for those who are called to His purposes. I have been surrendering my life to God each day for a very long time and have stopped being surprised about who I happen to meet and how I am able to encourage somebody or less often they can encourage me.
Sometimes we know the reason why something happens both good and bad; but, frequently we only learn in hindsight the fuller implications of what happened in the past.
