Life consultant = somebody who is further down the road you want to travel. No specific training required, simple experience.

A follow up thought - somebody told me years ago about how to succeed in life, "find somebody who is doing what you want to do, and then just do what they did".

Life Consultants can be helpful if you find the right one for the right reason.

I encourage folks to try to find someone who is further along the road to were they want to be and ask for mentorship. Most successful people enjoy helping others.

Is very hard to recommend a good life consultant in the army. This is a program the army offers for free but I like to know them personally so if I recommend a particular one I'm sure they will provide a good service. I don't like to steer anyone to a dead end. My soldiers deserve the best.

My favorite are Self Help Books. If you could help yourself, then you wouldn't need the book!

Yes but life consultants don't have to be hired - they can be family, friends, strangers - basically I think anyone who helps you to improve your life.  Check out http://www.liveinself.com.  I'm not anyone's life consultant officially but I am writing about what I learn for self improvement.
