I sort of anticipated that this might happen, but you have to remember that this person has never held elective office before.
What changes do you think he might make and do you think that the appointment of someone who actually has operational experience in the department of government is either a "good thing" or likely to happen again soon?

COL Ted Mc, this Veteran will bring a sense of reality to the post with him and should be good for the Government of Canada. He is a badass and this is something we can learn from and get more Veterans in our own government from the local to the national level.

I can't imagine a Defence Minister with no military experience, but this is Canada.

COL Ted Mc
MAJ Ken Landgren - Major, only four Secretaries of Defence have had military experience at higher than the O-3 level (since the Cabinet position with that name was established [I didn't go back to the "Secretary of War" office holders]) and only two of those were higher than O-4.
