My name is Tim Ehrenhaft. I am an honarably dishcharged veteran of the US Navy, with combat-related disability. I am not a drunk or an addict, and have always lived a clean, honorable life, with no criminal record. I live on a sailboat in South Florida, and someone has attempted to steal it while I was away. I'm asking for help raising the funds to bring legal action against the thief, to repair damages (not covered by insurance) my home (the boat) has suffered by the thief, and to move my home (the boat) to a location that's more safe. As this sailboat is my home, being able to move it to a location safe from thieves will prevent me from becoming another on the long list of homeless veterans in America. I understand the economy is tough all over, so if you can't donate, then please, at least, share this with your friends and civic or veterans' organizations, attorneys, etc and ask them to help. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and never forgotten. Thank you for supporting our veterans.

Tim, have you filed a police report brother? Maybe I can get your story to ABC Chanel 10 in Miami to help get police involvement/get some action taken. Let me know.

CMS Uhlig, thanks for your reply.
Yes, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office has investigated and the detective is meeting soon with the state attorney to present a case for criminal charges against the perpetrator. There is ample evidence in my favor.
At this point, I also need help finding an attorney who would pursue a civil suit, as the attorneys who have responded handle only personal injury cases, not property or maritime law.
Any efforts to help me get the word out for a positive resolution would be greatly appreciated.

I found a veteran (and fellow sailor) in Miami on RallyPoint who is a partner at a law firm. Try reaching out to him and see what he says. If he can't help you directly, perhaps he can refer you to someone who can. Good Luck.

SN Timothy Ehrenhaft, without knowing the layout of where it is your boat is moored, couldn't you simply sail off shore a couple dozen meters to safeguard your vessel? A moat is a pretty powerful deterrent to all but a pretty determined thief. Take a dinghy or motor launch back and forth.
Good luck with the lawsuit, Tim. It is unlikely that the perpetrator has any assets to seize.
I think perhaps a more direct fundraiser would be quicker and more likely to meet your needs.

1SG, thanks for your reply.

It it moored in the ICW in Palm Beach - the only access is by a dinghy with a motor to counter the current. This individual was determined to get what they thought would be easy money. They attempted the theft via their business, so, yeah, there are assets to seize. They also didn't know I would put up a fight.
