Sgt Kelli Mays There's a larger question that contains the one you've asked here: can the entire world come together to effect real pollution changes. WILL they. And the answer is, simply, no. China won't, India won't, Russia won't. Hell. The US probably won't. It would take a truly global effort to effect the kinds of changes that are needed, and humans are monkeys. Selfish bipeds who will ALWAYS look out for #1 first. Whether they're counting that as themselves, their family, their country, their God...whatever. It's not in human nature to give up something you WANT for something someone else NEEDS.

And so? This gesture was worthless, in the long run.

Sgt Kelli Mays - There are of course individual exceptions to what I said here. For example, it's quite easy for me to imagine you giving up a meal for someone who needed it. But institutionally speaking? Governments won't. And they have all the power.

SN Greg Wright, "And so? This gesture was worthless, in the long run."

It is worse than worthless - it will destroy our economy while delivering nothing of value.

As individuals, change starts at home. One household at a time. It might seem monumental but it's starts with everyday citizens.

Well, which is more important, corporate profit or breathable air?

Most places have been converting and "going green" for many years now. I think accidental spills and contamination of waters is a more serious issue than the air.
