I believe you can go through the veteran's specific branch of corrections and submit documentation. Not 100% on that, but that's how people get their discharges upgraded, so there's a chance.Response by Sgt William Biggs made Jun 17 at 2017 10:08 AM2017-06-17T10:08:22-04:002017-06-17T10:08:22-04:00SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S.2657146<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Depends on the amount of time that has passed since ETS. Since you mention the fire then the veteran must have been a WW2 or Koren vet. The mechanism is the DD-149 (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/forms/eforms/dd0149.pdf">http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/forms/eforms/dd0149.pdf</a>). If you have copies of orders that has weight. Stories and photos may help, but I would not hold out much hope unless these come from veterans with substantiated records. The big word here is "substantiated" ... he-said, she-said really does not carry much weight. Visit your local VSO and see if they have someone with the background ... and good luck! <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default">

Send me some of the pictures and a list of the units that you know about. In addition, considering that he was in Augsburg in the late 50s was it an accompanied tour? It probably was since it was 3 years. If that is the case, it would also be helpful to know your parents name and your aunt and uncles, if any so that school records can be checked also.Response by SSG Robert Webster made Jun 17 at 2017 11:33 AM2017-06-17T11:33:37-04:002017-06-17T11:33:37-04:00SN Greg Wright2657818<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I can't offer any help, but holy cow are you the spitting image of him!Response by SN Greg Wright made Jun 17 at 2017 3:02 PM2017-06-17T15:02:13-04:002017-06-17T15:02:13-04:00SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S.2659554<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your grandfather's picture is pretty much old-school bad-ass warrior!
