Leaders abusing power, Leaders not taking SA seriously, good ol boys club, racism, extremists in the ranks, etc. There are many reasons the younger generation isn't joining. I never hear woke from anyone other than folks on RP and maybe a small amount of "leaders" on social media who are looking for a political run after they take off the uniform.

Kids are not stupid these days. They see how members of the military are treated and want no part of it.

Why this is happening is a bit of a Rorschach test. It isn't the first time we've had problems reaching recruiting goals and it won't be the last. I'm sure we will do what we've done before, drop standards and increase incentives.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - I agree. Dropping standards is a problem. It's how I think they will solve it, but I agree it isn't a great solution.

SPC Kevin Ford - Trutfully...that scares me of what we will getin uniform...iwould rather fight with a little bit more smaller force that I can trust and are good Soldiers/Airmen/Marines/Sailors/Coast Guardsmen than a warm body. I had a mentor one time and he put it like this...do the empty chair test...if you are better off with an empty chair then get rid of them or don't just fill it to have it filled.

Project 100,000 from the 1960's comes to mind. Folks think this is something new but it is because of their lack of knowledge on the subject.

And iirc, the IQ requirement was lowered again in the 80's.
