No way that this bill sees the floor in this session.

If it did, the House members would be on record supporting this tripe, and the House would swing by 40+ seats in November. Even the sponsors know this.
I think this is a play to affect the party platform at the DNC Convention.

I tend to think you are right! If the party platform can be "controlled" - without challenge - the party and the people of the party can be controlled! Control is POWER!

Sometimes they don't propose laws they think will actually pass. They propose them to accelerate their political agenda. If it appears you tried to do something for a certain clientele, or their families, it will benefit you.
